THE RISE OF CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

12/16/2025

Picture
It’s hard to believe CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE launched just two years ago! With over a million followers across a number of social media channels, 850 million impressions and almost 100 million video views CSJ was created as a vehicle to give campaigns and charities the voice they have long been denied by mainstream media.

Over the past 12 months CSJ has supported and promoted many amazing campaigns and charities. Highlighted below are just a few of them.

JUSTICE FOR THOSE TRAPPED ON IPP SENTENCES

Picture
CSJ’s films exposing the IPP scandal have been watched over 20 MILLION TIMES and been quoted in a number of recent debates in the House of Lords. CSJ’s films have ignited a wider public storm on one of the most cruel and monumental injustices of the past half-century.

The public’s reaction to our films has been one of shock, outrage, and disbelief. These are typical comments

“Truly shocking”
“Absolutely horrifying"
“Unbelievable”
“Utterly awful”
“Madness”
“inconceivable”
“cruel”

CSJ continues to work with and support many amazing campaign groups and organizations campaigning for justice for IPP prisoners including UNGRIPP and IPP Committee In Action. We will continue to fight for justice for the close to 3,000 individuals, including many minor offenders, still languishing in our prisons today and for the implementation of the Justice Committees call for a comprehensive re-sentencing Programme.

NUCLEAR TEST VETERANS CAMPAIGN

CSJ backed the nuclear test veterans campaign group LABRATS igniting wider public debate with a film watched a staggering 11 MILLION TIMES.
Picture
The film included clips of senior Labour MP’s seen vocally expressing their support for the nuclear test veterans’ campaign whilst in opposition.

Defence Secretary John Healey MP, then shadow Defence Secretary, is seen telling the nuclear test veterans:

“On behalf of the British Labour Party I’ve said to our veterans your campaign is our campaign…There is no good reason, there is no good moral reason, there is no good military reason for withholding the compensation other countries have had”

Former Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, goes further, telling the veterans:

“Myself and my Labour colleagues are calling on the Secretary of State for Defence to…liaise with the treasury to set up an appropriate financial compensation programme for veterans and their descendants as America, France, Australia, China, Russia Fiji and the Isle of Man have done”

Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry Luke Pollard, is seen saying:

“We need to see not only the recognition for our nuclear veterans but also the compensation that they deserve…the Conservative Government’s failure to give them compensation was “really dumb”

Despite expressing his “gratitude” to the veterans in opposition, after becoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made no public comment on the nuclear blood test programme and more than a year since Labour came to power, there is still no compensation scheme and a “thorough” review of the archives promised to Parliament by Mr Healey has been given no budget with which to find answers.

On October 1st, the Prime Minister promised to meet with veterans of Britain’s Cold War nuclear weapons testing program “hopefully by the end of the year” and in December pledged to hold a summit with nuclear test veterans in the New Year to discuss how to end the 70-year Nuked Blood Scandal. A date for that summit is awaited so watch this space!

In our film, our CEO Peter Stefanovic has this message for Keir Starmer:

“This country owes these national heroes and their families a huge debt of honour and gratitude, but instead successive governments have stonewalled them and subjected them to decades of maltreatment and injustice. Now in power the Labour government must honour the commitment it made to them in opposition. You shook their hands in opposition Prime Minister; I won’t let you shake them off now”

GOVERNMENT U-TURN ON CUTS TO KEY DISABILITY BENEFITS

CSJ joined Trussell and many other campaign groups and charities in calling on the government to rethink its cruel and completely irresponsible plan to cut disability and health benefits, producing a film watched more than 3 MILLION TIMES and linked to Trussell’s online email your MP tool.

The government planned to make cuts to disability and sickness-related payments for existing and future claimants. But after a wave of Labour MPs rebelled against the proposals after a backlash from the public and signed an amendment hoping to block the reforms, the Prime Minister announced the cuts will now only apply to new claimants.

ESSENTIALS GUARANTEE

CSJ backed Trussell in its call on UK political party leaders to make sure Universal Credit protects people from going without the essentials with an “Essentials Guarantee”. Our film backing the campaign was watched 1.2 MILLION times and over 150,000 people added their name in support of an Essentials Guarantee sending a powerful message to the government

LIBERTY DEFEATS GOVERNMENT APPEAL AS COURT RULES ANTI-PROTEST LAWS ARE UNLAWFUL

Picture
CSJ’s films supporting Liberty in its legal action against former Home Secretary, Suella Braverman over her undemocratic decision to ignore Parliament and make law by the back door were watched millions of times and helped Liberty to achieve its crowdjustice target. Liberty won the case with the High Court finding the then Home Secretary had acted unlawfully. The last Tory Government appealed the decision shortly before calling a general election and in a move that shocked many, Keir Starmer’s Labour government announced it would continue to pursue the appeal.

The court of appeal upheld the high court ruling, which found Ms Braverman did not have the power to force through the change which redefined “serious disruption” as “more than minor” in the law concerning when police could impose limits on protests.

The government has now dropped its case against Liberty, meaning the law reverts to its previous wording, and protests once again need to cause "serious disruption” to warrant police enforcement.

“The regulations introduced by Suella Braverman have been quashed or voided,” says Liberty lawyer Katy Watts. “So it's as if they never existed.”

Akiko Hart, Liberty’s director, says the government’s decision to drop the case for stronger laws surrounding demonstrations is “a victory for protest rights.”

ECHR

Human rights are universal - politicians may not always find them politically convenient but it shouldn’t fall to any government to say who those rights should and should not apply to. If that happens then none of us has rights, just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want.

With both the Conservative and Reform parties having adopted a policy of leaving the European Convention on Human Rights altogether and Prime Minister Keir Starmer now lobbying Europe to join him in watering down the ECHR it’s never been more important to stand up and protect human rights.

CSJ’s films highlighting the importance of the UK remaining in the ECHR have been watched millions of times.

PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATES SCANDAL

CSJ’s films highlighting the Physician Associates scandal have again been watched millions of times and helped bring this important matter to wider public debate. PA’s are not doctors, they do not have the same training as doctors, but have been permitted to take on many of the roles doctors have traditionally fulfilled. The government has now confirmed that physician associates are to be renamed "physician assistants" to avoid patient confusion and improve safety.

ADOPTION & SPECIAL GUARDIANSHIP SUPPORT FUND

CSJ has joined the campaign to reverse shocking cuts by the Labour government to a vital lifeline - the Adoption & Special Guardianship Support Fund - which is having devastating consequences for some of the most vulnerable children and young adults in England. The cuts are are staggering - a 60% reduction from £7.5K to just £3K per child

CSJ’s film backing campaign group ASGSF PROTEST in its opposition to the cuts has been watched over 2 MILLION TIMES and helped to spark wider public debate. CSJ is joining ASGSF PROTEST in calling for these unconscionable cuts to be reversed

SAVE NHS DENTISTRY

CSJ has supported the British Dental Association in calling on the government to offer real urgency and ambition to save the NHS dental service and prevent widening inequalities. CSJ’s films highlighting the shocking and devastating consequences of a decade of cuts to NHS dentistry have been watched millions of times.
Picture
In November 2025 CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE CEO Peter Stefanovic joined the British Dental Association in presenting a petition with over 100,000 signatures to the government demanding better funding and reform for NHS dentistry.

CHINOOK JUSTICE

Picture
On 2 June 1994, an RAF Chinook helicopter - ZD 576 - crashed on a remote hillside on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland. All 29 people on board died, including some of the UK’s most senior intelligence experts and four Special Forces crew. But many questions remain unanswered, which is why the Chinook Justice Campaign was formed in 2024.

Most of the families affected by the crash are involved and demand a public inquiry to establish the truth and the full circumstances surrounding the accident.

CSJ has joined the campaign - calling on the the UK Government and Ministry of Defence to unlock the papers which have been sealed for 100 years.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer promised transparency and accountability in public office yet his refusal to allow a public inquiry in this case is the complete opposite of what he promised - in fact it’s an outright refusal  to be transparent and accountable. What could possibly be so sensitive that it needs to stay sealed away for a hundred years, denying grieving family’s the opportunity to know the truth of the tragic circumstances that led to the loss of their loved ones and to give them the justice and closure they deserve?

CSJ has backed the families campaign to break three decades of silence by calling on the Prime Minister to hold a judge-led public inquiry. CSJ’s films backing the campaign have been watched hundreds of thousands of times.

TWO CHILD BENEFIT CAP

Picture
CSJ joined the coalition of campaigners and charities, including Trussell, calling for an end to the two-child limit with films and commentary’s watched hundreds of thousands of times. In November 2025 Chancellor Rachel Reeces announced the two-child benefit cap will be scrapped in full from next April.

HACKED OFF CAMPAIGN

Picture
In September Peter Stefanovic, CEO CAMPAIGN FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE joined Hugh Grant and Hacked Off campaign in calling for fair, independent regulation to protect ordinary people from abuse and restore trust in the press.

CSJ joined The British Heart Foundation in inspiring the nation to learn lifesaving CPR

Sadly many of us will witness a cardiac arrest in our lifetime. CSJ backed the British Heart Foundation campaign to encourage people to learn CPR in just 15 minutes with a post which got a massive 3 million views.

Call for a full, public inquiry into Russian interference in UK politics & democracy

Our democracy has never been more vulnerable. CSJ helped a petition calling for a full, public inquiry into Russian interference to hit the threshold for a parliamentary debate (100,000 signatures), but a debate isn’t automatic. MPs need to show support - and that’s where you come in. The Russia Report warned of “credible” Kremlin interference years ago and recent cases have shown how real and organised this threat still is today -  and yet there has still been no full public inquiry. Well this is the moment to change that. CSJ has joined campaign group The Citizens in calling on the public to email their MP and ask them to publicly support the petition and call for a Commons debate. If enough of us act, right now, Parliament will have to respond. Tell your friends, family, everyone who believes democracy deserves defending - Let’s now get this done - together!

Onwards & upwards

CSJ continues to support many other campaigns & charities by sharing their content to a wide audience
