PM’s plan to strip back right to trial by jury will place us on a path toward authoritarian justice3/9/2026
The government wants to strip jury trials from offences carrying up to three years imprisonment. The Prime Minister will this week order his MP’s to support the undermining and restriction of this fundamental cornerstone of our democracy - a right which has been a fundamental feature of British Justice for over 800 years. He plans to do this even though independent analysis shows these changes would make NO meaningful difference to the court backlog and there is no credible evidence it will make justice swifter. What it will do however, is place the country on a path toward authoritarian justice.
CONTACT YOUR MP NOW before it’s too late and ask them to oppose the governments plan to undermine and restrict this fundamental cornerstone of our democracy In opposition the Labour party strongly supported mandating swift bricks in new homes - that support included backing the swift brick amendment when it was tabled on Conservative government legislation in 2023.
Last November - in a move which shocked and left conservationists aghast - the Labour government used a three-line whip to vote down a House of Lords amendment to make the bricks mandatory for new buildings. Help us send a message to Keir Starmer’s government that its time to SAVE OUR SWIFTS Here’s how you can help - the UK government is currently inviting the public to submit views on a new draft of the National Planning Policy Framework which includes proposed measures to make swift bricks a standard feature in new developments. You can email planning policy consultation at [email protected] and let them know that swift bricks must be mandated through building legislation not toothless guidance that won’t be followed to the scale needed. But you need to act quickly - as the deadline is March 10th Devastating cuts for some of most vulnerable children in England is not what I expect from Labour10/23/2025

On 2 June 1994, an RAF Chinook helicopter - ZD 576 - crashed on a remote hillside on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.
All 29 people on board died, including some of the UK’s most senior intelligence experts and four Special Forces crew. But many questions remain unanswered, which is why the #ChinookJustice Campaign was formed in 2024. Most of the families affected by the crash are involved. We demand a public inquiry to establish the truth and the full circumstances surrounding the accident. We want the UK Government and Ministry of Defence to unlock the papers which have been sealed for 100 years. Why have they been sealed for such a long time? What is there to hide? Who is being protected? It’s long past time for answers. www.chinookjusticecampaign.co.uk/ The ECHR is much more than a treaty. It’s a quiet promise - a shield against abuse of power, a lifeline for the vulnerable, a declaration of who we are as a nation. In an age of upheaval and division, we must not let it be torn up for political convenience - if you agree please support Liberty’s vital work to protect it.
